Carried Away
by PixChick
Talented radiological scientist Gert Gilbert was so excited that she was on the verge of discovering a rejuvenation process that she was starting to take unnecessary risks with test animals. This brought a rebuke from her immediate superior Dr. Strong, who advised her, "It's great to be dedicated an all fired up about a project, but try not to get carried away."
But Gert continued to work and experiment as before. One day, she planned to test bio-rad rays of a certain spectrum on a lab monkey, but a bad set-up caused the ray to hit Gert instead. Looking in a mirror, she saw she was less gray and less wrinkled. She pushed for a second dose, and saw in the mirror a woman in her early 20s. Giggling, she hit for another dose of the ray, and became a teen. Another dose, 11-years-old; and a fifth dose, an 8-year-old. Gert reached into her now tent-like blouse, pulled out her bra, spun it over her head and yelled, "Yippee!" After hitting for two more quick doses, the lights in the lab went out.
"Good think we cut the power, because I don't think Gert could afford to get any younger," Dr. Strong said as he entered the lab and pulled from the mound of adult clothes a 2-year-old Gert. "Lemme go," a kicking and squirming Gert cried. "Now what do we do with Gert and still keep her discovery a secret?" a scientist asked. "I think I have the answer," Dr. Strong said as he went to talk with his receptionist.
The receptionist soon returned with hand-me-down clothes from
her now
4-year-old daughter. She dressed Gert and told her, "You're going to
live with me and your new big sister from now on." Hoisted over the
receptionist's shoulder, Gert was walked out of the lab to the parking
lot.
"Oh no," little Gert thought. "Like Dr. Strong warned, I
got too excited about my project, and now I'm getting carried away."
