Everything I Wanted

by Douglas Greene

Jim is my husband. He's forty years old, and until the accident, worked as a physicist in a government lab in New Mexico. Believe it or not, that's him sitting on my knees.

Our marriage had big problems. In fact, before his accident, I'd planned on leaving Jim in a matter of weeks. I need commitment, and Jim had strayed at least twice over the course of our 10-year union, most recently with a coworker from the lab. Also, I desperately wanted a baby; a little person of my own to love and take care of.

Well, as you can see, Jim's accident at the lab solved both of my problems.

He doesn't look too happy, does he? I just told him that tests have indicated that his change appears to permanent. I also let him know that his girlfriend will be stopping by this afternoon to see how he's doing.

His melt down is so cute. I could just eat him up.
