The Ceremony

by Mandy

Young couple Christopher and Erica were going to be married. Everything was in order, except for one thing....Erica's Grandmother. She was strongly opposed to her precious granddaughter marrying the man. Erica was concerned the her nutty old grandma might do something to ruin the ceremony. On the night of the rehearsal, however, Perdita was rather accepting of Christopher. It was well known that the old woman was a spellcaster from the old world. Indeed, she blessed them with a spell of long life. Later that night, as Christopher and Erica were saying goodnight to everyone, Perdita spoke to the couple.

"I'm sorry I've been such a boor. I hope you two have a long and fulfilling life together."

They thanked her, then said their goodnights to each other. They would next see each other the next afternoon at the church.

The ceremony was beautiful, right up until the point that they exchanged vows. Instantly, they began shrinking, finally stopping at the tender age of 5. The congregation was in shock, until Perdita stood and explained to all

"I told you I was opposed to these two marrying. But I think they will be just fine as siblings. And they will enjoy, I hope, a long life together."
