Subliminal Cure

By ARthur

Rant by Edith Sherwood (age 37), recorded March 19, 2001:

"To say my husband Sam is strong-willed and stubborn is an understatement. I wanted him to give up his four-pack-a-day cigarette habit, but he silently resisted. None of the over-counter remedies like nicotine patches worked. Neither did having hypnotists plant a suggestion in his head, like cigarettes tasting bad or made you itch, succeed due to his strong subconscious opposition. So I took him to Alberto Chartrand, reportedly the best hypnotherapist in the business.

"Alberto suggested planting the ultimate hypnotic suggestion in Sam's brain that cigarettes will stunt his growth, retroactively. I agreed. Past subjects all quit smoking within two days, they so feared the planted thought that they might lose size and bulk in relation to spouses and friends. But I hadn't counted on Sam's powerful stubborn streak.

"Sam defiantly continued to smoke as heavy as in the past. His strong will and the hypnotic suggestion clashed, and the internal battle took a toll on Sam physically. It was a rough week for both of us. But the subliminal thought implant finally 'cured' him.

"That's Sam in the above photo. Cute, isn't he? In his resistance to continue smoking, he 'thought' his growth into reverse drive. And he didn't stop until he went down to 18-months-old! In the end, the 'cure' came because he became too small to reach the table for his cigarettes and lighter. This upset him greatly. So I steered him toward putting something healthier in his mouth. You might say he's now the most enthusiastic bottle baby I know.

"Alberto was unnerved at seeing the new Sam. He wasn't aware of how powerful a hypnotic suggestion he was planting. But I told him it was okay, if he'd just plant one more suggestion in Sam's brain one that would instantly toilet train him so I wouldn't have to change so many diapers daily!"
