Eloise stood before the School Board to answer charges that she punished three of her third grade students with spankings, even though the kids' mothers had expressly disapproved of that method of discipline. According to the mothers, each child had committed a small infraction in Eloise's eyes, and were punished with at least 10 swats from a paddle. One girl, whose smile after seeing the grade on her test paper was viewed by Eloise as not in keeping with the seriousness of the classroom, received 18 swats.

Eloise defended herself, noting that it was important to keep order to teach children anything, and that "toasting their butts a little" was a harmless way to teach kids to obey the rules. She noted that for each infraction, children are required to bend over and touch their toes until five swats with the paddle are administered. But if they flinch or otherwise leave that position during the punishment, the count begins anew. When the mother of the girl who received 18 swats complained that her daughter was so hurt she cried a half-hour after receiving the punishment, Eloise sneered that the girl was just a coddled crybaby.

Eloise then pointed out that state law gives teachers expressed permission to spank unruly students without permission or accountability to parents. On reading the statute, school board members agreed that their hands were tied. They advised the mothers to take their complaint to a different venue.

The next evening, Eloise was preparing to watch a video when her doorbell rang. Nobody was at the door, but she found a basket containing a bottle of wine and a note, "Right on about spanking, girl!" Eloise sipped the wine from a glass during the video, but as the film came to a close, she felt weird. Her legs retracted from her shoes. Her sweatshirt sagged in front. Then the doorbell rang again. When Eloise pushed herself from her chair, her sweatpants fell off.

Eloise reached up to the doorknob and pulled open her door. There stood the three mothers, but they now seemed twice her size. A quick inspection of her body indicated to Eloise that she had somehow turned into an 8-year-old beginning to grow her adult teeth, the same as her students.

"I hope you enjoyed the special vintage were sent you," one mother said. "Now about our grievance. Ladies, how would you punish someone who abuses little children for minor things in the name of discipline, and disobeys the wishes of their parents?" she added. "A spanking!" the other two yelled.

Not wanting to be treated like she treated her students, the youthened Eloise attempted to flee. But after a short chase through her house, the mothers restrained her, and Eloise took her turn over each mother's lap.
